Tamoxifen – Nolvadex
Tamoxifen – Nolvadex
Tamoxifen is used to treat breast cancer . And why is Tamoxifen now in connection with fitness / muscle building? Good question you ask, because you're probably new to this field or have never thought about supporting your muscle building with substances. Athletes who have already done so know why tamoxifen is related to muscle building / bodybuilding.
Tamoxifen is an anti-estrogen used by men to prevent gynecomastia or minimize or stop male breast growth . Male breast growth in muscle building? Yes, unfortunately a side effect of various anabolic steroids.
I would like to explain this connection and much more to you in my Tamoxifen Guide.
Advance a note from my part. Please do not understand any of my guides as a request to apply substances. I just want to provide you information, but I do not speak for or against it, because everyone has to know how far he wants to go in order to maximize his achievements.
Tamoxifen having the chemical name (Z) -2- [4- (1,2-diphenyl-1-butenyl) phenoxy] -N, N-dimethylethylamine or tamoxifenum; {(Z) -2- [4- (1,2-diphenylbut-1-en-1-yl) phenoxy] ethyl} dimethylazane is used for the further treatment of breast cancer. To understand the effects of tamoxifen on gynecomastia, it is worth looking at the mode of action as a cancer drug.
Breast cancer (breast cancer) is unfortunately quite often caused by the female sex hormone estrogen. An essential task of the production of the estrogen takes over the enzyme Aromatase . It produces estrogen from the hormones androstenedione and testosterone. By minimizing or completely stopping the production of estrogen, one tries to treat breast cancer. Now, when anabolic steroids are used to support and accelerate muscle growth, the body is given a higher amount of testosterone. Part of this testosterone aromatizes to estrogen. The female sex hormone causes gynecomastia, ie female breast growth in men.
Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) is an anti- estrogen , also known as estrogen blocker , which binds estrogen receptors in the body, blocking the production of estrogen. Athletes use tamoxifen to minimize estrogen production and the resulting gynecomastia and to reduce female breast growth. Since anabolic steroids are used especially in bodybuilding, the use of tamoxifen is also very common in this area .
Tamoxifen and the testosterone level
As is known , the body's own testosterone level suffers during a steroid treatment. The body is fed so much testosterone that the body's production comes to a standstill. If the steroid treatment is now stopped, the body needs support to restart its own testosterone production. Now tamoxifen has the property to stimulate the secretion of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone). Both hormones in turn are involved in testosterone production. Using Tamoxifen at the end of a course of treatment automatically leads to a stronger endogenous testosterone production.
Dosage of Tamoxifen
When dosing, it should be noted whether tamoxifen should be used during a steroid treatment or subsequently.
During a course tamoxifen should be dosed with 10-20 mg daily . Very important to note: After completion of the treatment tamoxifen should be halved in the dose and continue to be taken for about 10-14 days. So you can prevent the so-called rebound effect, which leads to a re-swelling of the male breast.
If there is already a gynecomastia, the anti-estrogen must be dosed higher. Here, a daily dosage of 20-60 mg tamoxifen is recommended . Experience has shown that the gynecomastia returns after about three weeks.
If at the same time the anabolic steroids are discontinued, a so-called frontload is recommended. This means a dosage of 60 mg daily in the first week, with a reduction to 20-30 mg in the following weeks. The intake is recommended over 6 weeks .
Side Effects of Tamoxifen - Nolvadex
As an estrogen blocker, tamoxifen naturally causes side effects in women. Mostly the period stays off . This is even less of a problem, as it already happens in steroid use. However, women should not become pregnant while taking tamoxifen because there is an increased risk of damaging the fetus. In addition, women should not take the pill at the same time as the pill and tamoxifen cancel each other out. However, since tamoxifen has no effect on fat loss and women do not have gynecomastia, they are not advised to use it anyway.
